It have very handsome look that the carving is deep.
In addition, it have one more interesting thing, as for this work, the whole seemed to be covered with red lacquer. I thought it is rust. But it isn't rust but red lacquer. Probably it was produced as a red mamushi at the time.
The maker is Muneyoshi of the Tomiki family(Takase Kozan studio). He is good at making snake. And there were many works. But I haven't seen such a rare lacquer work.
