Rokansai is called God of bamboo art in Japan. He enhanced bamboo art to a level of the art from just daily tool. He is the first person of the modern bamboo art that tried modern sense and development in a tradition.
This work was weaven inverted position of bamboo. It was an unconventional work in the time. Rokansai is the artist who makes a deliberate break with previous bamboo work styles.

I am attracted to the green color at first. And the egret and flowers design is tradittional pattern but this work designed more modern. It's a typical expression of Tanigoro.

He always carved his works from single piece of Japanese camphor wood. And also he is famous for his colouring technique. The eagle just about to fly up to the blue sky. And the size is very tall and laborious work.
